National ID Card
Who are Eligible?
- Expatriate Bangladeshis residing in the UAE who do not yet possess a NID card
- Applicants over 18 years old, of Bangladeshi origin, and residing in the UAE
- Applicants possessing a valid Bangladeshi passport
- Applicants possessing a 17-digit online-verifiable Bangladeshi Birth Certificate (all data in the passport and birth certificate must match)
- Important: Applicants possessing a NID but have not received the ‘Smart ID Card’ may apply for the Smart Card at the Consulate General
- Physical appearance is mandatory for NID enrolment
- Printed copy of filled-in and signed online application [form 2 (KA)]

- Valid Bangladeshi passport (original+photocopy)
- 17-digit Bangladeshi Birth Certificate (original+photocopy)
- A recent colour passport size photo (attach photo with glue on the application form)
Important Note: Applicants from the Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati or Bandarban District are required to fill up the Special Information Form.
The following documents may be requested by the concerned Upazila Election Office in Bangladesh to complete the verification process:
- Academic certificate (SSC/Equivalent Certificate/JSC/PSC)
- Parents’ NID (Death certificate, if dead)
- Bangladeshi driving license, TIN Certificate (if applicable)
- Marriage certificate and Spouse’s NID (if applicable)
- Nationality certificate (from Bangladeshi Councilor/Chairman/Mayor/CEO)
- A copy of Bangladeshi Utility Bill (Electricity/ Gas bill etc.)

Provide your biometric enrolment and pay the fee at the following place:

- Only new NID applications are received
- No NID correction applications are received
- The applicant needs both Bangla and English font to fill up the application form
- After the application is submitted to the Consulate General, the verification process will be conducted by the concerned Upazila Election Office in Bangladesh.
- Providing false information is a punishable offence
Step 1: Applicants must submit their application online. Please apply at https://services.nidw.gov.bd/nid-pub.
Step 2: Prepare all required documents.
Step 3 Biometric Enrolment: Applicants are required to appear in person at the Consulate General on the scheduled date and time of their appointment to submit their fingerprints, iris scan, photograph, and signature.
Step 4 Ready and Collection: Once the application is completed, the applicant will be provided with an enrolment slip, which will be required when collecting the smart NID card. The applicant will receive an SMS on their WhatsApp number once the NID card is ready. At that point, the applicant can download the NID card from the website for use. The Consulate General will be able to deliver the smart card once it has been received from Bangladesh.
The processing time for NID card may vary due to the thorough verification procedures implemented by the concerned Upazila Election Office. These checks are carried out to confirm the authenticity of the information provided during the application process.
Important Notice: For future usage, keep your password and username available. With your ID and password, you can log in to the concerned portal at any time to schedule an appointment or download NID card.
