    Iftar and Exchange Meeting with Bangladeshi Expatriates in Sharjah, UAE

    As part of its ongoing outreach program with Bangladeshi expatriate workers, the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai, in collaboration with Bangladesh Samiti Sharjah, organized an Iftar and exchange of views on 26 March 2025.

    Ambassador Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, attended the event as the guest of honor. The event was also graced by Mr. Md. Rashedujjaman, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Mr. Md. Abul Basar, President of Bangladesh Samiti Sharjah; senior community leaders; members of the media; and a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates from all walks of life.

    In his address, the guest of honor called upon all expatriates to work collectively towards building a new and modern Bangladesh. He recognized the significant contributions of the Bangladeshi diaspora to the country’s development and urged continued unity and cooperation.

    The Consul General, Mr. Rashedujjaman, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of sending remittances through formal channels and strictly adhering to the laws and regulations of the host country.

    During the exchange session, moderated by Md. Abdus Salam, Labor Counselor of the Consulate, both the guest of honor and the Consul General listened attentively to the concerns and suggestions raised by the expatriate workers and offered advice on various relevant issues.

    The event concluded with Iftar, observed in a spirit of solidarity and goodwill.

    Iftar and View Exchange Meeting with Bangladeshi Expatriate Workers in Ajman, UAE

    An Iftar and exchange meeting with Bangladeshi expatriate workers in Ajman was held on 24 March 2025 at the initiative of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Community, Ajman.

    Mr. Md. Rashedujjaman, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, the Consul General emphasized the importance of sending remittances through official banking channels and urged all expatriates to abide by the laws and regulations of the host country.

    An interactive exchange session followed, moderated by Md. Abdus Salam, Labor Counselor of the Consulate, during which the Consul General listened to the concerns raised by the expatriate workers and provided guidance on various matters affecting their welfare and rights.

    The event was also attended by Mr. Abdul Quddus, Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh Association, Ajman; community leaders; and a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates. The program concluded with Iftar, observed in a spirit of unity and mutual support.

    Consul General attended Iftar and Discussion Meeting with Bangladeshi Expatriate Workers in Umm Al Quwain, UAE

    An Iftar and discussion meeting was held on 22 March 2025 with the participation of Bangladeshi expatriate workers residing in Umm Al Quwain. The event was organized at the initiative of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Socio-Cultural Center, Umm Al Quwain.

    Mr. Md. Rashedujjaman, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, attended the event as the chief guest. In his remarks, the Consul General acknowledged the valuable contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates to the economic and social development of the United Arab Emirates. He also encouraged them to send remittances through legal channels and to strictly adhere to the laws and regulations of the host country.

    Captain Dr. Khalid Abbas Ibrahim, representative of the Umm Al Quwain Community Police, was also present and praised the Bangladeshi workers for their efficiency, hard work, and dedication.

    The event was attended by Md. Abdus Salam, Counselor (Labor) of the Bangladesh Consulate; Sajjad Zahir, Second Secretary (Passport); senior officials from the local administration; Mujibur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Socio-Cultural Center, Umm Al Quwain; community leaders; journalists; and a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates. The gathering concluded with the observance of Iftar in a spirit of community and solidarity.

    Consul General exchanged views with the Expatriate Bangladeshi Workers in Sharjah, UAE

    A discussion meeting with expatriate Bangladeshi workers in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, was organized on 02 February 2025 at the initiative of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai. Mr. Md. Rashedujjaman, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, attended the event as the chief guest.

    In his address, the Consul General highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the Consulate to improve access to consular and government services for expatriate Bangladeshis residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. He emphasized the importance of sending remittances through legal channels and encouraged the community to utilize these secure methods.

    The event was moderated by Md. Abus Salam, Counselor (Labor) at the Consulate. It was also attended by Md. Arifur Rahman, First Secretary (Press); Shahnaz Parvin, First Secretary (Labor); Md. Nazmul Hasan, Third Secretary (Passport); representatives from two local remittance service providers; community leaders; members of the print and electronic media; and a large number of expatriate Bangladeshi workers.

    During the interactive question-and-answer session, participants discussed both their challenges and the benefits they experience while living and working in the UAE. Representatives from the Consulate and the remittance organizations responded to their queries. Key topics included the use of formal channels for remittance transfers, expatriate welfare cards, passport and NID services, and adherence to the laws and regulations of the host country.

    The Consulate expressed its interest in organizing similar interactive sessions in other Emirates to further engage with the expatriate community and address their concerns effectively.

    Consul General paid a courtesy call on H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry

    The newly appointed Consul General of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Md. Rashedujjaman, paid a courtesy call on H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on 16/12/2024. During the meeting, the Consul General highlighted the bilateral trade, import-export between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates, and the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates to the economy of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates. The Consul General also emphasized the importance of mutual communication and expansion of trade & investment between business leaders and leading business organizations of the two countries.

    During the courtesy call, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber, expressed his interest in regular communication between business leaders and leading business organizations of the two countries, B2B matchmaking, and the establishment of an effective Bangladeshi business organization consisting of Bangladeshi businessmen in Sharjah.

    The Consul General expressed his expectation for the sincere cooperation of the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber in organizing an effective B2B matchmaking event between the business leaders of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) coming from Bangladesh and the business leaders of the Sharjah Chamber in the last week of February 2025.

    Commercial Counselor of the Bangladesh Consulate General, Mr. Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Director of SCCI’s International Relations Department, Ms. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab and International Cooperation Executive of SCCI, Ms. Shaista Shahzad, were present during the meeting.

    Bangladesh Consul General meets Director General of Dubai Immigration

    The new Consul General of Bangladesh to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Md. Rashedujjaman held a meeting with Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) at its Headquarters in Dubai. Director General Marri welcomed the Consul General to Dubai and assured him of support and cooperation during his tenure.

    Director General Ahmed Al Marri and Consul General Rashedujjaman discussed matters relating to easing visa facilities for employing more Bangladeshis in Dubai, their welfare, and other relevant issues. Mr. Marri praised Bangladeshis for their contribution to various infrastructural developments in Dubai and other Emirates in the UAE.

    Following the meeting, the Director General accompanied the Consul General and showed him activities of various Departments of the GDRFA. Relevant officers of the Labor Welfare Wing of the Bangladesh Consulate General as well as GDRFA were present at that time.

    Foreign Secretary visited the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai

    Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Ambassador Md Jashim Uddin has urged officials of Bangladesh Missions to serve the expatriate community with utmost care and sincerity. He made this remark while speaking at a meeting with the officers and staff members of the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai on Tuesday, 22 October 2024. In this regard, the Foreign Secretary underscored the importance of providing more efficient and effective services to the service seekers by leveraging automation.

    During his address, the Foreign Secretary highlighted the recent students’ movements in Bangladesh, calling on everyone to work together to achieve the nation’s collective dreams. He stated the goals and objectives of the interim government, including the reforms being undertaken in various sectors, noting that it is working tirelessly to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.

    Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin also highlighted the potential for boosting trade and investment between Bangladesh and the UAE. He encouraged the Missions in the UAE to explore and foster investment opportunities from the host country to further strengthen Bangladesh-UAE bilateral relations.

    Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai, Md. Rashedujjaman, in his welcome remarks, briefed the Foreign Secretary on the Consulate General’s current and future activities. The Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi Md. Mizanur Rahman was present at the meeting.

    Bangladesh Consul General in Dubai Presents his ‘Letter of Commission’ to Deputy Director, MoFA, UAE Dubai Office

    The newly appointed Consul General of Bangladesh to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Mr. Md. Rashedujjaman, presented his “Letter of Commission” to Mr. Rashid Abdulla Al Qaseer, Deputy Director of the Dubai Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE today. The submission was followed by a meeting between the Consul General and Deputy Director.

    The Consul General thanked the UAE government for hosting a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, who are contributing to both Bangladesh and the UAE economies. In this regard, the Consul General sought the support and cooperation of Dubai MOFA to safeguard the well-being of expatriate Bangladeshis in Dubai and Northern emirates. The Consul General also expressed his intention to explore new opportunities in the areas of trade, business and investment between Bangladesh and his areas of jurisdiction.

    The Consul General and the Deputy Director expressed hope that their respective offices would work closely across all areas of mutual interest.
