E-Passport
The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai has been providing e-Passport service since 2021.
A. WHO ARE ELIGIBLE?
- A Bangladeshi citizen or Bangladesh origin national living in the UAE
- A newborn baby of a Bangladeshi parents
- Applicants currently holding an MRP with less than 1 Year validity. E-Passport applications will not be accepted if the existing MRP has more than one year of validity remaining.
- Applicants wishing to replace an old styled handwritten Bangladeshi passport
- Applicants who lost their e-passport/MRP but have a copy. In such case, a lost report from the UAE police will be required.
- Applicants holding a Bangladeshi National ID card (NID)/Smart ID or a 17 digit online verifiable Birth Registration Certificate [English Version]
B. Mandatory Physical Appearance
Physical appearance (except under 5 years old) is mandatory for issue and reissue of an e-passport.
** No e-Passport application will be accepted with a Birth Certificate issued from Dhaka South City Corporation
- Printed copy of duly filled-in and signed online application with barcode and the summary sheet with appointment. Please apply online via https://epassport.gov.bd/landing
- Bangladeshi National ID card (NID)/ 17-digit online Bangladeshi birth certificate [in English]. For Birth Certificate, please make sure this is online verifiable from https://everify.bdris.gov.bd/.
- Current original MRP/ E-Passport (For lost passport, bring the printed copy of police report)
- Photocopy of Emirates ID Card/ Resident Permit along with the original card
- UAE visa copy
- A valid student ID if the applicant is a student
** Physical presence of the applicant is mandatory.

- 17-digit signed Bangladeshi birth certificate [in English]; For Birth Certificate, please make sure this is online verifiable from https://everify.bdris.gov.bd/
- Photo: 3R size (89mm Ă— 127 mm/ 3.5 in Ă— 5 in) lab printed; the photo should not be older than 3 months. the child should wear a colourful dress. The background of the photo must be grey, and the background should cover at least 40% area of the whole photo.
- Number of Photo: 2 (Two)
- UAE Birth Certificate [in English]
- Parents’ original MRP / Parents’ e-Passports / Bangladeshi National ID cards (NID)/ 17 Digit Online Birth Certificates [in English]
Submission
- Visit the Consulate on the day of appointment
- Pay your fees at the Counter No. 01, 02 & 03
- Submit your documents for token & biometric enrolment (fingerprint, iris scan) at Room No. 23 (Consular Building)
- Wait for your turn for biometric enrolment
- Provide biometric and receive slip. Check if all information is correct.
- Check the estimated date of arrival of the passport on the delivery slip. Leave the consulate after receiving the deliver slip.

Collection
- Collect your passport from the delivery counter of the Consulate when it is ready for collection.
- Bring original passport and delivery slip for collecting the new passport
- If you have requested for postal delivery, wait for the passport to be delivered at your door.
- For postal delivery:
- Make sure you can receive the passport by post
- Pay the postal charge on the day of biometric enrolment
- Make yourself available to receive the delivery by post at your place
**The Consulate General is not responsible for any loss or damage of the passports during delivery via post/courier.
If police verification is required, the processing time for the e-Passport may vary due to the thorough information and security validation process conducted by the Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) office in Dhaka and the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police. These checks are carried out to confirm the authenticity of the information provided by the applicant during the e-Passport application.
Delivery of Regular Passport:
If no police verification is required and there is no mismatch of data between the MRP/EPP and the NID/BRC, the new passport is expected to be delivered within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of enrolment.
For first-time Bangladeshi passport or E-Passport applications, police verification is mandatory and will be carried out in Bangladesh. In this case, the delivery of the passport will depend on the police verification process.
Delivery of Urgent Passport:
If no police verification is required and there is no data mismatch between MRP/EPP, and NID/BRC, the passport is expected to be delivered within 15 days.
Note: The above time is not always guaranteed as the whole process depends on the processing of passport at Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) end.
